Need Help with Your Writing—or other subjects?
The Career and Writing Center in Room 113 is the place to go to get help with all of the writing you do for all of your classes. The center offers you the opportunity to work on writing assignments big and small, short or long—including those for Senior Project—with the help of a trained educator in a “lab” environment.
In addition, this year the scope of the center has been expanded as staff members can now help you with any difficulties you may be having in a particular subject area in which they specialize.
To use the center to work independently on a writing assignment during one of your study periods, just follow these steps:
§ Prior to coming to the center, obtain a pass from your subject area teacher for whom you are writing;
§ Go directly to the center instead of going to study hall;
§ Sign in when you arrive;
§ Bring all the materials you need, including the assignment, rubrics, etc.
To receive help from a member of the center staff you can:
· Sign up for a help session in the Writing Center when you arrive after following the steps above;
· Schedule a help session ahead of time—and guarantee yourself a spot!—by e-mailing your request to writingcenter@bpsmail.org, including the date and period when you are free to meet, then follow the steps above.
The center schedule for the semester is on the right. Teachers “specialty areas” are noted under their names for your convenience.
